Sangiovese 2010 reserve- fantastic NZ Herald review
In the mid June issue of the NZ Herald's Viva section, the 2010 Sangiovese reserve wine was included as one of only 7 NZ red wines in their winter wine and food feature. It was included alongside wines from Craggy Range and Kevin Judd's Graywacke. This is a fantastic review, and highlights what I believe Sangiovese can do with the right clones and right sites in NZ.
"David Hoskins at Heron's Flight was a local pioneer of Italian varieties, planting the country's flagship red, sangiovese in his vineyard back in the early nineties. With its concentrated dark fruit, food friendly tannins and attractive fragrant dimension, this vintage is another compelling example from a variety that's tended to be tricky when transplanted to foreign soils."
