Superbly situated in a spectacular vineyard location in the grape-growing region of Matakana, just north
of Auckland, our restaurant offers glorious 180-degree views of vineyards, fields valleys and mountains.

 

The villa style building is organised into several indoor/out door spaces, which can be organised from the intimate and formal to the large and gregarious. It is home to artworks, books and the history of food and wine in New Zealand. Everything is organised for your comfort and a seamless wine and dining experience.

The entire facility can be booked for exclusive use, or the elegant wine library and/or the inviting Matuku Moana room can be booked separately.

Our food

Heron's Flight food has always focused on fresh and local. For a long time it has emphasized Italian trattoria style meals to match the Italian style wines produced from the vineyard.

 

With Clyde and Farida Cooper we have introduced different flavours and styles of cooking from Farida's Parsi background. This is a unique blend of the Indian and Persian cultures. So there is more spice, more variety, and different styles of food and cooking on the menu. We are purists when it comes to freshness. We have also introduced, with our chefs, more Maori influence and other unique dishes, while remaining true to our New Zealand country style and heritage.

 

If you visit for a wine and food experience you will enjoy a refreshing interactive experience with the land, the winemakers, chefs and proprietors – and even with fellow guests if this is your inclination.
